I've been eagerly awaiting the arrival of Phantasmagoria 2 ever since the first one showed up on GOG. The game's camp value is legendary. I am disappointed that this is the DOS version and it has scan lines, but I realize that is difficult to correct. What is bothering me more are the constant sound anomalies that I can only describe as "hiccups." They occur whenever the background music is playing. Is anyone else having this issue? Was the original game like this or is this a problem with the GOG version? Any information or solutions would be greatly appreciated.

I randomly get a static-like sound when I'm playing, not sure if that's what you're referring to? I played the game during its original release and don't remember there being any sound issues, but it's been a long time.
Try changing the dosboxPH2.conf, or whatever they are calling it to core=normal and cycles=1000. Also be sure that sbtype= is set to sb16
Thanks, that did the trick!
You can also change the prebuffer size in the configuration file. I usually change it to 50.
Thanks Vagabond, worked for me.
I never found a solution to this issue. It didn't stop me from finishing the game but it was frustrating to endure the occasional chirpy sound speed-ups.
I tried changing the length of the sound buffer, the blocksize, the sample rate, the cpu types and cycles.. everything I could think of, but to no avail.

This was the only thing to work for me. Thanks very much!

Is this the dosboxPHANT2.conf file? I can't open it. Is there a different configuration file I'm not seeing?

Thanks

You can open it with Notepad.
