The first one seemed pretty funny in an unintentional way when I saw it on GiantBomb video but is it actually any good? At least the rating here is really high so maybe there's something to it as a game too.

I personally like many old cult movies i've seen so far and she seems to watch oddly badish horror movies (new and old) so would you think we'd enjoy either or both Phantasmagoria games?

Heh, it was pretty fun to watch "From Dusk Till Dawn" last week so I had the idea of these games for us in the near future ^^

yes this is unintentionally hilarious
The first one is relatively good adventure game, although it's puzzles don't offer much challenge. But it's story is quite similar with low budget horror movies. I skipped it when it was first published, because it got bad reviews, but it was better than it's reputation.

The second one is actually quite bad. It has most uncharismatic hero I have ever seen in adventure games and (in few places where it was possible) I intentionally killed the hero to see him suffer. If you like camp, you might get some enjoyment from this game. Because it's so awful that it's actually quite funny.

Thank you, that helped a lot. I'll buy the first Phantasmagoria and we'll consider the second one too when we end up playing this first.

The first one is quite hilarious, the second one is mostly a cult-game for the particularly interested, I felt it went a bit off the original's path of epic straight-to-vhs-movie bad thriller/horror, and became more weird and unlikely.
