Getting old. Getting real god damn old.

Supposedly when we buy games here, GOG has done the work of making them run on current systems. ]

Right.

Nothing. Black screen, then some god awful sound (which sounds like it may be laughing) and nothing. Black screen.

I hit ESC, I click the mouse, I hit return, and nothing.

Black screen.

Fun game you got there. Should have called it BLACK SCREEN.

Cntrl-Alt-Del to start Task Manager and End Task.

Maybe that's the game???

See who can figure out that you have to hit Cntrl-Alt-Del and End Task first???

Personal Nightmare runs under Dosbox, and sounds like Dosbox is having display issues on your system.

Maybe try ScummVM, which offers support for the game.
Thanks for headsup!
Runs absolutely fine... since the game is running on DOSBox, it seems more like your computer having issues with DOSBox. Possibly your monitor/setup doesn't support the resolution the game is switching to (640x400 by default). Did you try any of the graphics options in the configuration program GOG supplies? Turning on aspect ratio correction is a good start.

And if it doesn't work then you can try ScummVM like Kirben suggested.

People here (and GOG support) can help you if you have problems with the game, however I want to point out that just because you have problem with DOSBox, it doesn't mean that most people (and their modern systems) have problems running this game.
