The gameplay doesn't end up according to the story in the random encounter I just had:

I stumbled upon some german soliders, and chose to sneak away.

Well, that failed and now in the planning phase, I'm in the middle of the camp.

Some pretty darn bad stumbling and hilariously bad sneaking... :P
