Hey so I read the highly recommended RockPaperShotgun article "Butchering Pathologic." I normally wait until I finish playing games before reading an in-depth analysis but I just found the article too interesting. I'm wondering if the game is worth playing anymore after having so much spoiled. Stuff like the secrets behind the shell building and the meat factory, stuff like the map twist and something about the Earth. I also guess the author didn't finish the game with the female playable character because he claimed to only be able to get to day 8. Someone in the comment section was also upset about the author not talking about "the true ending." So while i don't know everything or the finer details I feel like I know most? Is the game still worth a playthrough with all three characters?
I'd say it's still worth it. The article reveals many things that you would have the pleasure to discover for yourself, but it doesn't reveal everything, only a small part of the game. The map thing, for example, is strongly foreshadowed both in its shape and the names of the town districts. It's not such a great spoiler, through. The real joy is in subsequent playthroughs, once you've mastered the game's harsh economy enough that you can focus on the story. Each playable character reveals a different aspect of the town: the Bachelor approaches the plague from a rationalistic perspective, the Haruspicus is here to uphold the tradition, while the Devotress sees the mystical side that no one else can.
The atmosphere is a critical component of the game. As are the characters. The walking. The thinking.

To sound in true Ice-Pick Lodge character: You get a feel that the game is thinking about you as you play it. :D So, spoilers only give away the plot line of the game - not the meaning of it.

I think it is worth getting just to wander around on day one.
