I'm having an issue running the game.Whenever I try, it instantly fails and I get an error report to send to Windows.

Here's my config :

- Windows 7
- Intel Core i5-4590
- NVidia Geforce GTX 960
- 8 GB RAM

Do you have any idea what could be the problem ? I doubt it's my config, since it's fairly recent...

EDIT : I checked the support page for the game, and it isn't because of Supersampling (disabled for me by default). I don't think it's the "No sound" issue either, since the game doesn't start at all.

I have the same problem.
Intel Core 2 Quad Q8300
Win 7 64bit
ATI R9 280
6 GB RAM

EDIT: I have been messing with the config file (tried pretty much everything) and it doesn't help.

Alright, just fixed it. You gotta launch the game through Galaxy, else it won't work. I'd rather not have to, so if it could be patched, it would be pretty cool.

Thanks for the reply. Sadly, Galaxy is no option for me, will wait for a fix.
The game crashes at launch both in GOG Galaxy and from the desktop.
I seem to be having the same problem, ran it in compatibility mode, and as administrator. It simply won't start up.
I had sent GOG a ticket on Friday and received today a reply with several steps that should solve the problem.
Alas, the game still won't launch on my pc but, computers being the complex bastards they are, the mail I got still may help someone else. So, here are the steps the GOG tech guy sent me:

1) Please make sure that you use "Run as Administrator" to install and to start the game (right-click on the shortcut or setup file and select "Run as Administrator").

2) Please reinstall the game AND add it to your anti-virus/firewall software's exception/trusted list. Simply disabling firewall or AV software could not be enough, since some of these software are running still in background or in services list.

3) Reinstall the June 2010 DirectX runtime package. You can find the archive file containing the 2010 package installation files here:
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=8109

After that please download and install DirectX Web Installer:
https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/download/details.aspx?id=35&e6b34bbe-475b-1abd-2c51-b5034bcdd6d2

You will have to extract the files into some folder, then open that folder and launch the DXSETUP.exe file in order to proceed with the installation.

4) Please try disable AMD Virtual Super Resolution:
I) Open AMD Catalyst Control Center
II) Use the Preferences to switch to Advanced Mode, if it's not already running
III Open the 'My Digital Flat Panels' page
IV) If 'Enable virtual super resolution' is enabled, please disable it. After that click Apply, to save settings.

5) Please reinstall Visual C++ 2013 SP1 Redistributable Packages:
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=40784
after pressing Download select:
vcredist_x64.exe
vcredist_x86.exe

6) Please reinstall OpenAL32 redistributable package:

I just got the game running by deleting the Galaxy folder under c:/ProgramData/GOG.com (had it installed some time ago, curiosity got the better of me, curse my soul. :))

Be sure to first uninstall Galaxy. I myself did it back then, but the folder with almost 100 MB's worth of data remained.
I did all of the above, including uninstalling Galaxy and reinstalling Pathologic, and I still get the same crash. I guess I'll have to wait for a fix.

I just renamed the folder and the game started. Thanks a lot.
Still no dice - tried with and without galaxy, all of the fixes in Daniel_M's message, installing codecs, and more. It crashes right when I open the game. It's also ridiculous you can no longer access the classic version - that one at least ran fine for me. Good thing I backed it up on a DVD.

Huh? I ran a search just now through my library and the original version is still available to me, with installation files and everything. Sure you weren't overlooking it...?

Unfortunately I've nothing else to contribute regarding possible solutions to get the game running for you, besides maybe double checking drivers' update status or something curious like that. Another odd solution might be trying to install it in its own unique directory, as maybe something in the filepath is throwing it off. If you haven't, you might try it under a different username on your computer, if you use any special characters (e.g. !, ?, $, etc.) in your main one in case it tosses something under the username folders and that's producing the issue.

I know those are either really mundane or kinda out there, but they're the only other things that come to mind that I've not seen mentioned yet here. Best of luck!

Ah, you are right, there's the old one :). Bless GOG! Thanks for the additional tips - I'll give it a shot.
Well i'm at a loss, I had to get a support ticket done just to get to buy the game as my discount code was broken. Now I can't even run the game. I hope there's a fix brought out soon.

If you had previously bought the old version on gog (and I assume you had because you say it ran fine) you still have access to the old one in your account, just use the search function. As with all GOG games removed from sale, previous owners keep access to them.

EDIT: sorry, only just saw Gmr_Leon already told you.

Well, that works too, obviously, but seeing as I have no use for the refuse (look, it rhymes, too) off it goes.
Glad I could help.
