I'm a big fan of macabre and creepy games, but I really hate jump scares. Does this game have any? It would factor into my decision to purchase.

Nope, it really is all about atmosphere. It's not even horror in the conventional sense. Well, it's probably not what most players would consider as horror, at least. But the game is all about fighting the clock in a grim and desperate situation, and the atmosphere is really oppressive and... weird. Surreal.

Sometimes rats and bandits tend to sneak up on you if you're not careful, but that doesn't count as a deliberate jump scare.

There are also clouds of diseased air in the houses that will chase after you and can send you quite running. I'd call those jump scares. But it is a small aspect of the game (and unscripted).
