I've been enjoying playing this game under Proton on linux – I wish they'd release a native Linux version like Kingmaker, but no dice. Naturally, Galaxy doesn't exist for linux yet, despite it being the single most-voted-for improvement request .

My version of the game is quite old -- 1.0.4 -- and I'd like to update it. My downloads page only shows more recent patches (for Windows). I can't find them anywhere on GOG's website.

Can anyone tell me a URL to download old patches?

They are removed, assumingly by the GOG.com staff. The page holds back only a limited number of offline installers for patches. Once that limit is reached, every new patch will take up the slot of an older patch, and you cannot download any more the older patches.

That's very irritating. So I have to download the O(100 GiB) installer, save my saves somewhere else, and hope for the best in order to update the game? Or do you think installing (windows) Galaxy in the wine / proton environment and praying it can update it will work?

Sorry, I have no experiences with Wine/Proton.
I personally saved every download installer since release. Overall so far its almost 40 GB.

Considering the version you are using it might be better anyway to download the whole new core installer to begin with.

Reasoning: one of the patches was so big, it would be easier to get the freshest core instead trying to install the single patches one by one in the first place.
Just an update in case anyone else comes across this -- I downloaded the (Windows) Galaxy installer, and ran it within my proton / wine prefix. Fortunately, it discovered the installed game and patched it successfully.

I'm disappointed that GOG support didn't get back to me -- they didn't reply to my email! -- and they didn't make the patches available without using Galaxy.

Good to know. Thanks for sharing, Landak!
