I was rather shocked and disappointed about the lack of character potraits available during character creation. Is that something Owlcat intend to improve in the future? I remember that these kind of games usually have like dozens of potraits to select from.

I know that I could upload any picture to create a custom potrait but still the lack of potraits kinda looks like owlcat went the cheap and easy way here.

It is actually kind of expensive to hire extra artists to only create a pictures.
You can easily download literally hundreds of portraits taking for example this one:

These are easiest mods to take so I personally am happy that Owlcat spend they time to creating story instead of making hundreds of portraits.

go to nexus, in 10 minutes youll have a hundred of them, why bother when 90% of people used custom in kingmaker..

The question is: how those 3d party portraits will react to Mythic path related changes? If the Mythic portrait just replaces the original one then it's OK (though slightly disappointing); but if it is some kind of transition then there might be surprises...

Although I didn't expect Owlcat to have created a character portrait that fit my character choice, I too was surprised by the small number of choices. Just as with Pathfinder mods have come to my rescue this time as well. Of course the kinds of decisions we're talking about here can often serve to introduce gamers to the modding scene, so in a sense it's a win for PC gaming and the modding community. Still let your artists flex a bit Owlcat.
