I can't find it in the starting spell list. Did the devs choose not to include it in the game?

I made a Kensai type character, and the lack of this spell is severely impacting his viability.

Edit: Disregard this, a Magus doesn't get Mage Armor.

I don't think the aword saint gets Mage armour it kind of forces you to ge very careful with them or go the dex/finesse route. Or invest in arcane armor. all tjhe other Magi get armour
Mage armor isn't on the magus spell list (since normal magi can wear armor it would be kind-of a wasted spell), so unless owlcat changed that it's WAI.

For Kensai I'd recommend getting an armour bracer, you can find a +5 one (which is better than mage armor and you don't need to use a spell sloteven <level> hours) by the end of the troll arc, though I can't remember where exactly.

As a magus(and sorc, AFAIK) I couldn't find this spell in list, until scroll to the very bottom. It was there and marked as "not recommended" by a red point.

It is on magus spell list (for this game, not for Paizo Pathfinder either)
Moreover, as of lvl3 magus get this spell as bonus.
And you can cast MA to any other creature, so it um.... can be used... In some cases.
E.g. rest encounters when your mid-heavy armored teammate lose his armor.
