The online respec tool resets all companions as well, to their minimum chracter level. But it is also heavily labeled with warnings. I used it, and for a while Ekundayo's animal companions was removed from my manual control. I still don't know what I did to fix it. :P
Once again, modders to the rescue! Hopefully newman55 keeps updating this tool on Nexus, the NPC default setups are a little annoying. :/

I'm waiting for a few more patches to the main game anyway, but I'll try this tool out a little now.
I used this today and works like a charm: https://pathfinder.deev.io/

The problem with modifying the game files and not just the savegame are patches. The Unity Mod Manager would not work on my system or with my game version anyway, so the respec mod did not work for me.

This looks interesting, thanks for your reply on my mac question. But it seems to be main character only, I need it mostly for the companions. Anything similar for the full party?

it works for companions. when you load save you can check boxes on who you'd like to respec. you can't go below miminal levels of companions(level at which they join) as it is hardcoded it seems. same with companion class/subclass.

The current version of the nexus mod allows to set companions back to level 0 and set them to 25 points.

Technically you might even assign a new class/portrait etc. However I wouldn't touch this, that's begging for bugs and inconsistencies.

If unity mod manager doesn't work or you don't like to use stuff without being able to take a look at the code and what it does to your save, there is also a savegame-editor on github that allows to reset to level 1, change points etc. You can assign your companions to new classes via templates, but so far only base clases are available. You have to compile it yourself, but that's not difficult. Should work for Mac as well.

Just be aware that changing all your companions to the better (sub)classes really ruins the balance. For me, changing to hard difficulty was a decent solution to that, but if you are already playing on higher difficulty levels with the standard companions you might get bored quickly.

edit: Sorry, I'm not allowed to post links. The nexus stuff is easy to find and the save game editor on Github is made by ericfitzgerald.

I just got home and tried it, doesn´t seem to be working at all. The link in step #5 doesn´t do anything for me, I can select the savegame just fine but then nothing happens. Tried in multiple browsers as well. :(

Is the online tool still working?

it sometimes drops 1st save for no reason so you have to add it again. apart from that it should work fine.

You're welcome. There are also mods that "fix" some of the rather strange design decisions regarding kingdom management, travel time, access to world map and bloated save games (still a bit vary about that one).

Quite a bit of that is plain cheating of course, but I don't care as long as it changes the whole mess that is kingdom management. "Oh well, you want to level up your kingdom rank? That's 14 days of not being able to do anything else. So I hope you start that during the beginning of the month, as otherwise you won't be able to react to that five nasty events that pop up and have to be solved before the month ends." I'm not saying that can't be dealt with, but it's not exactly my definition of fun...

yeah promotion times are retarded. just as event DC's. whoever designed that didn't put much effort. I am rather fine with travel time. and I like the part that makes you keep an eye on your kingdom.

if some modders would find a way to extract the info about kingdom stats and what they actually do... now that would be awesome. My wild guess is they open buildings and allow promotion for higher rank and otherwise do jack shit, apart from those that affect economy. that would explain the lack of decent explanation in game. imagine tool-tip: "everything but economy and community does pretty much nothing"

The game is still under heavy development. There are patches nearly every 24h.
This is the reason I did not follow the "mods" path for respec.

You also forfeit any chance to report bugs, if you change the game code.

Once the game is in final version, I'll start using or even making mods.

A standalone savegame editor or the website posted earlier, only touches the savegame and does not alter game code. The worst that can happen is a screwed up savegame, which you have made a copy of before altering.

Nope, tried >10 times, no dice, I get no message, nothing, using 3 different browsers and various save files. If I try step 9/10 I get a message that I need to select first save file first but that´s not working for me.

Do you not get a download if you click "10. Press here to change and download your final save file."

The download either works or there is a hint you need to upload the save file.

I choose savegame (a .zks file) at #3, nothing happens, though, either when I select it or press the link in #5. The file is selected though and the name appears next to the select button.

If I choose a file a #9 and then click #10 I get the "You need to do select and download your first save file first!" message. But I just can´t do that somehow... Tried Firefox, Chrome and Safari.
