So - I'm at the end of Act 5 and just got the magic prison key. *Most* of the locations I've been to and killed the monsters prior to receiving the key, with the exception of Thousand Voices areas which I haven't gotten to yet. Should the "charges" which are still shown as 45 already be decremented for the areas I've been to or will they start to decrement only after I kill the first monster on the list I encounter after having received the key? There are 5 flames shown at the entrance to the prison in level 2 if the Lonely Barrow.

I'm at the latest patch for the game.

You've probably seen this by now anyhow, but the counter will reflect how many you have killed already. Maybe it didn't update until you left the area or something.

It looks like maybe there was a glitch because it showed 45 charges as I went to every area again to see if I missed anything.

Lo and behold, I had skipped Old Oak. After killing the monster there, the charges suddenly decremented from 45 directly to 0 and all six lamps were lit in the tomb allowing me to enter.
