When uninstalling/reinstalling do I need to copy/backup save files or does the uninstall process leave them alone?

Details:
Since the incremental patches don't seem to be available I am going to update from 1_0_5_24205 to 1_0_8b_24349 by reinstalling. I assume just need to...
~/GOG\ Games/Pathfinder\ Kingmaker/uninstall-Pathfinder\ Kingmaker.sh
~/Downloads/pathfinder_kingmaker_1_0_8b_24349.sh
But am unsure if the uninstall leaves save games alone or if they need to be backed up first.

GOG installer usually saves user data in place. Not just savegames, but portraits, screenshots, and others too.
To be 100% sure you can backup `~/.config/unity3d/Owlcat Games/Pathfinder Kingmaker` dir, but this is not mandatory at all.
