Yeah it's a cracking game. I missed out on the buggy phase and got it a couple of months ago, and it's been my favourite game since then.
And for anyone who's played it as the devs intended up till now, RTWP, I'd highly recommend the Turn-Based Combat mod on Nexus. Makes it an even more absorbing experience when you have the difficulty cranked up and you have optimized builds - you can really sit there comfortably and ponder all your options. It's like playing a whole new game.
The great thing about it is that you can switch the turn-based option off at will and go back to RTWP (even in the middle of combat), so you can plow through trash mobs RTWP and reserve the turn-based play for the difficult fights. Top mod.
For susbsequent playthroughs I'd also recommend Bag of Tricks and the Respecialization mod - these three mods together make the game immensely tweakable. Some other great mods are Visual Adjustments, Edlritch Arcana (the newer one), Proper Flanking (which makes flanking rules true to tabletop, more difficult but more interesting - however it does devalue things like Octavia's AT ranged sneak attacks a bit, if you've gone down that route, she's useless until she gets Greater Invisibility that way); there's also an alternative to Proper Flanking, Closer to Tabletop, which changes even more things to be more like tabletop. (Note that with either of the Proper Flanking mods you really need to use the camera turn option in Bag of Tricks to make proper flanking easy to use, so you can precisely mouse where you want your characters to go.) And of course one of the mega portrait packs.
So many options! :)
