Hello.

I'm going to be playing Pathfinder: Kingmaker for the first time and I'm a complete beginner at this type of game. All I know is that my MC will be an female aasimar angelkin of alignment Neutral Good, and that I'll be using the game's companions.

I'll be playing Normal or even Easy and I'd like to choose Magus Sword Saint as my class, but I have no idea what to choose between stats, abilities, feats, weapons, etc.

Every build I find with a magus is in multiclass, but none with just 20 level Sword Saint like I'd like to do...

If anyone could share a detailed guide on what to choose for a level 20 Sword Saint, I'd really appreciate it!

Thank you in advance for your answers.

Hi, I'm not gonna post a detailed setup as part of the fun is to find your own build - especially if you're playing on lower difficulties where, let's be honest, everything works :) And you can respec anyway.

Few guidelines though:
- pick a weapon for your saint - from meta perspective it should be falcata, but only if you have Varnhold's Lot dlc and you will halt your adventure after a certain point (after season of bloom quest) to complete its separate playthrough - it's a separate few hours mini campaign with new party, but then you'll be able to import your save into main campaign for additional rewards and story in next acts
- otherwise longsword is fine (plenty of good/great longswords available)
- for stats max strength (also pick it during levelups), put at least 16 into charisma and intelligence (plenty of intelligence modifiers for sword saint at higher levels, also spells), put some points into dex, dump wisdom and put rest into con
- during levelups I'd suggest picking up critical feats (improved critical for your chosen weapon etc.), weapon focus/specialization, and maybe something from intimidation line to get to Shatter Defences (check its prerequisites in game when you pick your skills as I can't remember them)
- also sneak attack (you don't have to be stealthed in this game)
- and outflank for you and every melee companion in your team
- for magus'/sword saint's class skills improving your arcane pool is always nice, also few toggles such as for example bane blade
- don't use medium or heavy armor or shields - in fact leave your second hand empty for spellcasting toggle (that's why 2handed weapons don't work great for this class)
- for spells always pick self buffs and protections - you will never be a damaging or disrupting spellcaster - buff and wreak havoc in melee

Also for the first playthrough I suggest setting your Kingdom management difficulty to easy or effortless - not auto. Auto will disable many fun events, while normal kingdom management difficulty is actually quite unforgiving.

Anyway don't think too much on your build as you'll be playing on lower difficulty where almost everything works. Just enjoy the game, it's a loooong one (but well worth it) :)

I know it's part of the game, but as someone who is naturally anxious, the fact that I don't have to worry about the build of my MC if I follow a guide to the letter would relieve me and allow me to enjoy the game more serenely.

Can you explain to me why the falcata should be my weapon from a meta perspective, please? I couldn't find anything on the game's wiki.

Thank you for the information about the Kingdom management, I'll make sure I don't set it to automatic!

Because there's one unique falcata available only if you first import Varnhold's Lot save into your main campaign. And this item has the biggest critical threat range of all useful 1handers, which makes your sword saint crit machine. Like I said, it's from metagaming perspective.
If you really really have to have step by step guide you can use this one, just replace first two levels with something from sword saint (perhaps some skills that are further down the line in the build):

Thank you for these clarifications, this weapon looks really interesting on various aspects.

And thank you very much for the link of this guide! If I can use it and replace the first 2 levels with something from Swort Saint, that's really great.
The fact that wisdom is so low won't be a problem though?

No, because it mostly useless for arcane casters (like magus and sword saint). Except some saving throws it gives them nothing, so it's a safe dump stat.
