From reddit, it seems weaker enemy (enemy difficulty) with no adjustment (enemy stat adjustments) is closer to tabletop.
However it still doesn't help certain encounters that are out of place.
Enemies also get free feats to boost their abilities, but those're not calculated in cr unlike NWN. Tthe exp reward is crazy low like pillars while enemies scaling is like dos2 late level...
Hope there is a mod fixing those out of place encounters. Currently at lv4 and had to change from challenging mode to custom at level 2 due to random enemies can hit ac27 all the time, with a whopping amount of exp, 17.
