Okay, so this is sorta a culmination/follow-up to many of the issues I've read and/or personally observed with the game. My game is currently in a pseudo-abandoned state; I'm deciding if I should bother to restart or not (current roadblock is the dungeon I walked into, door locked behind me, no way out, no supplies left, no healing, monsters (multiple packs of 4-6 skeleton champions) are far too strong for my lvl 5 party. I have an earlier save, but my early kingdom is also kinda suffering, cause there's no information about how you cannot cancel adviser tasks, and/or really how to handle anything.

Anyway, it's clear that balance for the game is a near complete failure, with CR ratings all over the place, stuck areas, missing context, etc. I'm only a short way into the game, and most encounters are either easy or impossible, with no clue which going in. I get that it's supposed to be "realistic" (ie: you could be walking along and just get eaten by a random CR 20 Owlbear, that's how totally random works)... but come on, this is not at all "fun".

Now, it's a kickstarter game, not a AAA game, so I expect some QC issues, but this is kinda ridiculous. Any ETA on when the game will be marginally playable?
Note: Not intending to be totally negative... I bought the game, it has a lot of promise, and I would like to enjoy it. I'm just looking for an indication of when some of the more egregious balance issues will be fixed. I could give examples if desired (eg: the Owlbear in the Stag Lord encounter which literally one-shots everyone, or the dungeon with the locking entrance door), but hopefully many of those are obvious to everyone.

I do also appreciate the balance changes so far; it seems like the devs are working to get it better, but there are still some obvious glaring issues. I'm just looking for an indication on when it will be "safe" to actually play through the game, and not just auto-lose due to balance issues, that's all.

I have one notice about balance, you made work time for summon spells just 6 second per level, that mean all summoner spells is not use until 10 level, why not make 1 Minute per lvl?
Oh, that dungeon you are in is designed to scare you that you are stuck with invincible monsters. You i fact not and can get out if you look around a bit and avoid fights. (Dont remember exactly how) Worst case scenario the game autosaves when you enter the dungeon.

I think it is meant to teach the player that sometimes discretion it the better part of valor.

I dont think the balance in this game is bad. That is to say: it is uneven, but I think it was designed that way. This way you are always on the edge, either feeling powerful or feeling vulnerable. You can never be completely safe.

I am om my first playtrough and I am playing on the first hard mode blind. Thus far after 150 hours I have found only one fight that was bullshit hard. The *troll king!*. And maybe the fight against the scared sister was a bit too tough. Everything else felt balanced, if challenging. You might have to rest and buff for some hard fights. And you have to understand the combat system. Worst case scenario you can always change the difficulty whenever you feel like it.

Yes, may be archeology it is not that moderators will praise, but I'm not sure about it's right decision to make new topic for my little remark.)

I think it is not useful if creature live just few second. Even if you build special mage with improved favorite school you can use it just when you reach 7 lvl. I hope they will change it, the game is looking almost perfect.

I think the limited time exist because summonings were so extremely broken in the previous games that this one borrows from. (Baldurs gate series). So they tried to balance that by making it so that you have to summon the creatures directly in combat, thus wasting a casting turn that you could have used to thrown a fire ball or something.

You can also not command the summons directly for this reason. If you summon them from too far away they becomes useless as they wont move to the enemies.

Balanced but boring.
