So i am up to almost Chapter 5 and while juggling companions and learning to manage my kingdom efficiently i overlooked the fact i missed the 1st companion quest for Valerie . There is actually no trace of it , no letter , nothing in my journal at all , i talk to Valerie and there is no dialogue about the guy she was supposed to fight .

Anyways reading up , doesn't appear to be any solution other than reloading which would lose me over 50 game hours i think . No going to do that .

So thinking of hiring a mercenary to replace Valerie , same type of build which works okay on Val for this new gal .
I don't use Val as any sort of adviser , so can i just ask her to leave my kingdom and be done with it ?

melee linzy does the job just as fine and it frees up a bard slot.
jaethal can tank if you turn her into crusader. no dazzling, though.
that is if you are looking for tanking companions.
technically reggie can also take the dazzling role, but he is rather tight on feats, so it will come late.
also if you are doing custom you can do much better than val and make an actual paladin. something like paladin 17/thug1/stalwart1/something 1(maybe monk for free crane or alchemist. would be a lvl 20 pick so aint happening anyway) if you need a dazzling user
