Guys, I think you are great for running a service that sells games without DRM and for that I love you, but even the love of a mother has its limits.
I started downloading 1.06 on Sunday and I couldn't finish it (I have a crappy ADSL), so I tried to continue on Monday but I discovered you released 1.06+. I started downloading the game from scratch again, but I couldn't download the last part so I tried to finish it on Tuesday, but surprise 1.06++ was out! So I simply gave up because, you know, I was tired of downloading something like 15-18 GB just to start again the following day.
To be honest I was tempted to start downloading again the whole game this morning because I thought it would be simply ridiculous to even think that you could release another patch on Wednesday, but hey, you really did it.

Ok, now that I vented out my frustration I feel better.

You should be venting at Owlcat Games, not GOG.

Maybe, but it's GOG who manages the download links. They could at least wait a couple of days before removing the old installers, like they do with the linux version.

Would you honestly be happier if they didn't fix the issues we're all having?

I haven't had many, but noticed today the game finally kept my graphic settings in 1.07 :)

I never said that. What I did say is that they could wait 2-3 days before posting the updated installer files. It's a given that they need to post the update patch file asap.

This is 100% on Owlcat games for dodgy patching. On the plus side, they're fixing things fast - on the other hand, they need to fix things fast because they screw things up just as fast.

The worst part are the file sizes - judging by the change lists, no patch should require that much data. I'm sure they could have figured out (ahead of time) some way to patch the game that doesn't require such massive updates. AFAIK these are purely coding changes (for the most part) and not changes to assets such as models/backgrounds/etc.

However, it is definitely a good thing that Owlcat are releasing patches on GOG almost as fast as Steam - if we had a delay (and Steam didn't) we would (quite rightly) have a thread or two about getting screwed at GOG by the devs.

The main issue for GOGers is the fact that GOG sometimes removes intermediate patch files, so if you miss one you'll end up having to redownload the whole game again. Then again, with the patches being this massive, if you wait a few more patches then downloading the game again might be faster. There seems to be a ton of stuff to patch, so it'll likely be some time before this is done - any takers for a possible time frame? Based on the fast turnaround, my bet's on at least 6 months before it's properly playable (i.e. all quests completable). No guesses for it being 100% bug-free - a game this size, that could take years (if ever). This I agree with 100%. Missing a single patch could potentially require a redownload if older installers are removed.

I was curious about this myself, very big updates.
These are not new materials added though? "Snuck" into the patches?
I mean the size of them would suggest it's more than just bugfixes.

I suspect it's just the way they compiled the code and/or the way the project is built - such that a small change propagates throughout and causes changes to many object files. Just a guess though - there could also be new materials added for all I know, or (more likely) fixes to art assets (though I still suspect it's build-related).

Don't start downloading 1.08 as 3 of the bins are wrong and the whole thing is broken.

Could be seeing there's been several 1GB patches.
Seem like a weird ineffective way of updating though.
