For me it was actually TotalBiscuit, who did a bit on it while it was still in beta. Since the beta was open, I could also download it long before release, try it out, and love it.
I purchased it a few days before launch when I saw it featured on GOG's front-page. But yeah, the Zero Punctuation video must have generated some sales for the developer.

muhammad_a: I read from somewhere that the developer of Painkiller said that he tripled the sales of Painkiller. Tripled. That's three times than normal.
Impressive.

The guy who is most known for this:

Although I do prefer his column, also featured on the Escapist. And the occasional poem.
I will not lie I was highly Influence by mister Yahtzee as well.

Don't always agree with him, but the man has good taste – and he's funny as hell.
Personally, I was drawn to Papers, Please by supergreatfriend, who did a Demo Friend video of the beta demo. Tried it out for myself, liked it, and decided to get the full game recently when I realised it was released.

muhammad_a: When it first came out, all I see is a grey game that is trying too hard to be grim and "artistic". Really, how many games must have brown dystopian setting anyway. So I didn't bought it when it came out, despite the stars and scores the game garnered.

Last week, Yahtzee Croshaw made a video on Papers, Please. What really made me buy this game is when he said that "the game presents moral choices but makes it really hard to be a good person". I immediately bought the game. I wasn't disappointed, that's for sure.

Same thing happened with FTL and Rogue Legacy.

So... I can't be the only one who bought these games because of Yahtzee, right?
I bought this game after playing FTL a bunch and thought I needed something new. I got it from my brother at the same time he also gave me Rogue Legacy. What game should I play next?

It's a completely different style of game, but I can't recommend Hotline Miami highly enough.
I just saw it as a new release on GOG, seemed like an interesting title, so I did some research on what kind of game it was, and decided this was something for me!

Nothing more, nothing less. Great game, well worth the ten bucks. :)
Someone I watch on YouTube sometimes (not Yahtzee, I don't really watch him anymore) made a stream of the game (Twitch then updated it to YouTube), and I thought the game looked interesting so I bought it. Definitely worth the $10.

This was the video (for those of you curious): Random People from SomethingAwful.
