Changelog for update 2.5 / GOG-6 (added 22.07.2015):

- Added Arms and Armory section to menu, displays all weapons and equipment in possession, as compared to Equip menu that only shows what each character can equip
- Edited switches to get out of hidden doors/doors that use keys on 9-2 and elsewhere to make them easier to notice and understand what they do at first glance
- Edited training descriptions to remove typos, including Defense training description
- Blind II feedback fixed for levels 2-5
- King Demon fight not always triggering fixed
- Skeleton's absolute defense fixed
- Basic and Master Tower Runes fixed, stats now match description
- Added minor event to 1-1, hint for later puzzles
Its good to see the game now up to date here on GOG.

I purchased it while it was in the summer sale, but I had been putting off a first play though waiting on the patch arriving here, as some of the fixes sounded important, and I did not want to have to start again from the beginning when the patch was released if I ran into problems with the old release.

Does anyone have any additional tips for a first time play though or issues they thing a new player should know about before I get started, other than the advice already posted here https://www.gog.com/forum/paper_sorcerer/tipsguides ?

A few things:
1. Don't play 1980's mode. If you are looking for a good challenge, play Hard. 1980's is too grindy in the early game.
2. Make sure to have someone who can cause multi-target status effects in the late game. Imp and Minotaur are both candidates.
3. Damage over time effects are useful. Definitely use them when appropriate. (Note that, unless they fixed it in 2.4 or 2.5, the Sorcerer's Scorch's chance of burning is actually based on Strength, not Magic.)
4. The mid game will get easy, especially on Easy or Normal. However, later on the normal battles will start becoming rather brutal. Remember to save often, and if you choose party members based on their effectiveness in boss fights, you might have some trouble.
5. Have at least one of Vampire, Witch or Cultist in the party.
6. If you have been unlucky with weapon drops, check the shop. Alternatively, completing the Catacombs (except the first three levels) will give you a choice of some very nice weapons.
7. You can get extra party members by going through the first three levels of the catacombs, but if you don't get any of them, there is a secret character you can get later. I wouldn't recommend trying for the secret character on your firat play through.
8. Werewolves are good early on, while Minotaurs are good later on. Trolls are good for boss fights, but boss fights are not the biggest challenge in this game.
@dtgreene

Thanks for the tips I will Give Paper Sorcerer a go soon.

I will probably be back on this form asking questions again as other than post here and on the steam form there dose not seem to be much info about this game on line.
Anyone know if there is any update to "The Paper Sorcerer Mini-Guide and Artbook are coming SOON!"?
