therefore be careful before you buy, the pg2 from here (GOG) does not work with Windows 7.

Um...what? I'm running Windows 7 64-bit Professional and I currently have it alt-tabbed. Who is feeding you this baloney? I just finished a scenario, works fine with no glitches.

Works fine for me in W7 64 bit are you running it in admin mode

Works fine in Win 7 64 here .... don't think i've ever had a problem with PG2 since i bought it ....

I would also buy original PG.

PG II sucks. Graphics are terrible. I don't see greyed out hexes very well. It is a chore to play..

I miss the original PG and AG.

Try Panzer Corps. It's modernized for newer PCs (and it has low system requirements) and has great graphics.

the original PG has a DOS version so running it on win 7 under DosBox shouldn't be a problem

I do not have any problems on my Win7 installation, thus it's not the OS that's at fault. Be aware however that Panzer General 2 is from that weird time between 1995 and 2000 when games were quite weird on which directory they were installed to.
Make sure that the directory you install the game is not UAC controlled (aka do not install in Program Files) and also that the directory doesn't have a dot in it. So if you installed it to C:\Games\GOG.com you should probably reinstall it to C:\Games\GOGcom
If these do not help, post again with more info (graphics card, monitor resolution etc) and we'll see if we can figure it out.

panzer general 2 works fine in windows 7.

panzer corp actually makes you spend prestige in between battles to replace your losses. when i realized that i was like wtf? for a game trying to be like the original panzer general why would they do that? i never played it again after finding that out, so maybe they patched it out but i doubt it.

panzer general works perfectly on windows 7 using the playstation version on epsxe. if gog ever gets it believe i'll buy it.

I simply see no reason to buy a clone of PG.
All Generals work fine on my win7 system, except 3dSE has the little menue color issue.
There are so many scenarios out there for each General, so there is plenty to do.
