I downloaded PZ2--one of my all-time favorite games--and no-go on my new laptop with Win8.1 64bit. I've tried Compatibility Mode and Run as Admin, I still get a "Program Not Working" message..the game doesn't start at all. I also tried keeping the Screen Resolution panel open when I started the game, as suggested elsewhere. So far no luck.

Any ideas?? I realize this was only $3.99, but I thought the point of GOG was to keep the old games going on the newer hardware! Now I'm not sure if I'll risk downloading other old games...

I did grab Caesar3 on GOG and it works fine...

Thanks for any help.

Yeah, contact support. It's why they are there. Though it's the weekend and most of them are not in the office. You would likely hear from them by Monday.
Panzer General 2 runs fine here on Windows 8.1 64 bit without any compatibility tweaks. If you have a discrete graphic card and one from the cpu, try switching the assigned graphics unit.

If that doesn't help, try this graphics fix.

Many thanks this did the trick!!! I've just played for about 30 min w/o problem (the Klin scenario if you must know) so renaming the DLLs seems to have done it. Thanks again.
