As soon as I saw Fantasy General it was a no-brainer insta-buy.

I realize I may well be in the minority here but I would LOVE to see Star General added to the SSI wishlist.

Sure you're in the minority: Star General is the shame of the General serie: nothing star, bad general.
Why do you love it so??

I guess it's nostalgia! :) For some reason I just had a lot of fun with it though I readily admit that it is nowhere near the game that Fantasy General is. :)

What an aswer :/
I played it at release (never finished it) and was so bored. It's a plain General game with nothing special. There's almost no feature telling we're supposed playing in space. Sure, space is empty lol, but future weapons were not included, IIRC, and commandment was badly included, complicated for nothing. I had many simple ideas which were missing in the game, it was despairing.
What I remember is It was like a WW2 wargame in only plains landscape with even no rivers, with some towns, and units with only a movement and a combat number.
I feel we don't speak about the same game. What was so funny for you???

Look, your comment of "what an answer" is REALLY rude. I had fun with it. How in hell does THAT warrant your derision?

Let's just end it here mate.

Yeay cool for you, you love it because it was fun. I just wanted to know what you find appealing in the game, not your feelings about the game.
I could explain why I've found FantasyG fun (different generals, research, heal feature, music, some dynamic campaign..).
Thanks gog.com!
Yeah, Star General was a huge disappointment but still woud like to see it on GOG.

The Original Panzer General and Allied General would also be nice, although they are so easily avaialbe as a free download...and not just from warez sites...that it migh tnot be worth GOG's time to sell them.

And,please, can we FINALLY GEt PG3, Scorched Earth?

I suppose what I liked about the game was that at the time, there were no TBS space games quite like it. Certainly it's not on par with Fantasy General which I bought here in a heartbeat, but, for its time, it was unique. Yes, I realize it could have been much more but, again, all I can say is that I had a lot of fun with it and admittedly in the minority but if GOG made it available, I would buy it and play again. :)
