I was very pleased to find this "good old game" on GOG. Panzer Elite-special edition is truly a classic WW II sim. ( note "Panzer Elite Action" via Steam" is NOT the same game and is arcade by comparison -we almost made that mistake)

I installed GOG PEse on a Win7/64bit and a friend's Win10/64bit build. Like most older games, you will need to set compatibilities for initial install. Good instructions on the PEDG site.

After testing the initial install we installed the modpack: "Ostpak Redu 2.0" by Daskal and other members of PEDG. - This Mod also Includes game engine improvements programmed by Aldo.

This mod really improves the game's graphics and gameplay. By using the game's " 3D_Control_Center" you can configure your graphics card. We are getting resolutions of 1920x 1080 and better on newer nVidia cards. Even they were not the focus of this mod package, there are Improvements to the Brit and US campaigns as well.

Still running PEse under Windows 7 and 10 /64bit, and currently running the mod: Ostpak Redux v. 2.2.

Note that PE reportedly also runs under Windows 11. Of course PC hardware/ driver configurations vary considerably and can still be a problem running an older game, but it’s good to know it’s not the Windows version.
