I am getting the BSOD when going into the 3D section of the game, followed by the results screen which of course has zero results. I have the game on disc but bought it here hoping this issue would be addressed for modern computers. Alas, not.
Have tried both Direct 3D Renderer and Software Renderer and I am only running the game in 16-bit. No Mods installed. Also, am running using Admin Rights and have tried other compatibility modes. All to no effect.

Any clues, as the other posts regarding this do not help me and are over 2 years old?

Run the 3d settings app at 800x600 resolution. Can you select direct3d as a source instead of software? The issue is being caused by the game being so old it doesn't detect video memory properly so you need to do some fanagaling.
