ranger007: Any ideas? thanks
Stuff: If you are running XP, my only suggestion would be to make sure you have the latest video drivers installed.
Click here for ATI Click here for Nvidia If you are running Vista / Win 7, did you install the game by right clicking the setup.exe and clicking "Run as Administrator? If you just double-clicked the setup.exe the game may not have installed fully since Vista / Win 7 tend to block some disk writes if setup.exe's are not run as admin. If you did not run as admin, I would backup my saves and reinstall as an admin.
If you did install as admin or after a reinstall, right-click the game shortcut, click Properties, click the Compatibility tab and check-mark the "Run this program as an administrator" option near the bottom.
As with XP, also make sure you have the latest video drivers installed (links above).
Make sure your firewall is not throwing up "Allow this action?" dialogs behind the game screen. Start PK, Alt-tab to the desktop and see if there are any firewall dialogs. PK will not allow some firewalls to display their dialogs.
If you have a dual core AMD processor . . . it might be worth giving the
AMD Dual Core Optimizer a try.
It helped Painkiller to run smoothly on my laptop. It doesn't have a GUI but installs and runs in the background. Can't see that it has affected anything other than PK runs better. It can be uninstalled using control panel.
IT IS NOT FOR INTEL CPU's That's all I have . . . =)
Edit: Some have trouble with UAC and find that turning it off or installing the game in a directory outside of Program Files will fix some game problems on Vista / Win 7 installs. You might try turning UAC off, play PK, if the problem is gone . . . install outside of Program files might be the answer.
Im running XP pro on a old PentiumIV,all requirements exceded.
