Enjoying the game, which has been running at a "leisurely" (but still playable) speed. I thought it was designed that way - the enemies seem to be running in slow motion. Having reached the airfield level, the speed has ramped up massively, to what I suppose is "normal" FPS speed. The souls stay around for a lot less time, so the whole thing has cranked up. Makes it more fun if anything.
I've seen the 1 or 2 core fix; I'm running a single core AMD Sempron 1.8 GHz on XP so nothing too hot.
Tried re-loading earlier levels and they still run at the slow speed, so it's definitely a characteristic of the level itself.
Strange!
