Painkiller is an excellent game that goes out of its way to bring you the best in basic shooters. And when I say basic, I mean it in a good way. You don't have to go looking for keys, navigate with complicated maps, control NPC teammates or farm for experience. Everything is simplified to clearing out an area and moving to the next checkpoint, so you can completely focus on nothing more than the shooter aspect of this game. If you want more to the game, you can always try for getting more gold and tarot cards. Tarot cards will give you different abilities in the game, but if you're good at shooters, they're only helpful, not necessary. There's also soul collecting that will turn you into a godlike form for a short time to wreak insta-killing havoc on your enemies. But other than that, this game is for those who just want to point at an enemy and shoot, for those who want the fun, mindless action of Doom, Heretic or Quake in a newer, cooler format.
