Game loads, no problems there but the menu buttons dont work... need to use taskmanager to close the game..

Had the same problem with Painkiller: Black Edition. You need to set the compatibility of painkiller.exe to windows 7 ou xp service pack 2 or 3. I also put "start as administrator". It solved the problem.
