Not really sure I understand your question; if you are referring to the fact that you kill things and move to the next checkpoint and have to fight the occasional boss (which may or may not be a "puzzle" boss), then yes.
Yeah I was taking about the level design. Seems like there is less emphasis on exploration, and more killing. I love exploration driven FPS shooters.

You can search the levels for secrets, but Painkiller is generally about blowing the living hell out of monsters in insanely gory and satisfying ways. Sorry to hear this wasn't what you were expecting.

Yeah, what this guy said. Painkiller harkens back to ye olden days of shooting, before you could crouch behind a wall and regenerate health, and before the "R" key was invented. The game is a bit creepy, but I really enjoy the feeling of blasting baddies in the face with knock-off Metallica playing in the background. I hope you have played a few more levels and liked the game.
Painkiller is sick.....I just beat it. Great game.
Painkiller is a great departure from the Medal of Honour carbon copy shooter genre; reminded me a bit of Serious Sam, Doom and Duke.

Can't forget Quake. The game's style is really reminiscent of the setting of the first Quake. The inclusion of bunny hopping from Quake as a feature rather than a physics glitch allows newbs like me to zoom around the map like the Quake experts do. It's a shame there's no rocket jumping physics though.
Not on single player. There is on multiplayer.

Oh, the good old days :)
Oh cool! I never tried rocket jumping in a deathmatch.
Forgot to mention that I did that in Warm-Up, that's why I take no damage there. Normally you do take damage.
lol, Well rocket jumping maps wouldn't be very fun without infinite health.
Not for practice. But it adds another level of challenge where you're not allowed to make mistakes. It's fun climbing the high towers in DM_Cursed while playing for real.
Painkiller entirely focuses on cool maps, cool enemies, cool weapons, cool physic and a KICKASS heavy metal music. And that's all about it. Is for people looking for just shoot shoot shoot.
