I just reported this error to GOG.com
However I was wondering if other users were having the same problem and/or have any solutions for it.
(I did search for the solution myself and couldn't find it so far)

Are you perhaps running this on a Vista machine with directx 10 on it? If so try downloading
I can never get these damn links to work properly copy and paste the following in your we browser.
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=9226a611-62fe-4f61-aba1-914185249413&displaylang=en
it's the latest directx 9 file from microsoft and should fill in any missing directx 9 files. See if that works out.
Also make sure hardware acceleration is set to full on your graphics card, painkiller can't run without it.
If this doesn't work could you post up either a dxdiag or your system specs?

How did you do that? I just copied how it looks like you did your link and instead of getting the same result the last 3 lines of my text turned into the link instead.

Links don't automatically generate when you post them, you need to manually turn it into a link. Paste the URL into the post, highlight what you just pasted, click the link button on the left of the text entry field, then paste the link again after the "url=". It should end up looking something like this:
{url=http://www.something.com}http://www.something.com{/url}
If you want to turn normal text into a link, you can do the same thing:
{url=http://www.something.com}my link{/url}
Obviously, replace the { } brackets with [ ] brackets.

I tried the link but it says I already have the latest plug in installed :s the link from Ralackk I can't even find :p
How do I post a "dsdiag" ??

goncalobms: How do I post a "dsdiag" ??

Open your start menu, click on "Run" and type dxdiag, and then press enter. Save the info and copy paste it here. My Windows version is danish, but this pictures should give you the gist of it.

Ekraan: I have this same error .. its weird because demo worked well some time ago.

You should really post your dxdiag log. The message simply means that something failed while initializing the renderer. Could be a version incompatibility, could be that your gfx hardware doesn't support something that Painkiller needs, could be that PeopleCanFly simply don't like you. Without knowing your setup it's almost impossible to even guess.
ok .. i solved it.
1. download / install 3D-Analyze (http://www.3dfxzone.it/files?object=3dfx&objid=100)
2. select painkiller.exe
3. check Emulate HW TnL
4. check Force SW TnL Caps
5. click run

Your assuming he doesn't already have a video card that supports T&L. It's a good sugestion though if you have an onboard graphics card.

I just got a reply from the support team ... so I'll wait for what they have to say first and then I'll try this.
