I had originally purchased this game through Steam and it just didn't work on my 64-bit, dual core system. Does this version fix the problem?

What OS do you have?
Windows Vista 64 or Windows XP 64

It works on vista 64-bit.
I'm pretty sure that gog team tests all games on 64-bit systems also.

XP 64 is always a bit dodgy anyway. Hope it works out for you.

I bought Painkiller Gold off of Steam a couple months back. That worked fine under XP x64.
My specs:- Core 2 Duo E8500, Nvidia 9800GT 512MB, 4GB DDR2-1000, 7200RPM SATA2 HDDs.

I run vista x64 on my laptop and I bought painkiller from gog, it works perfectly.
