The rugged terrain in Pacific General creates a bigger challenge to capture as many cities, outposts etc. as possible (don't have to be victory hexes). E.g. the Burma map has the remote Fort Hertz surrounded by mountains which looks impossible to take without sacrificing other cities due to the required logistics to move one's unit(s) there. Guadalcanal in the US campaign has the Western victory hex near the coast which is 'Regular Jungle', depended by artillery, anti-aircraft, infantry and spawning cavalry. Are there strategies to capture all of them or guides what the highscores/possible maxima are? I am assuming it continues like this in the US island hopping campaign.
You can capture every hex in the Burma scenario.
I accomplish this by sending two paratroopers deep immediately from the right side of the map to avoid being seen by ground troops or intercepted by fighters. You should also have at least six fighters of your own by this time to take care of the British fighters. Drop the paratroopers on the two most isolated hexes in the jungle and then march them north to fight the Indian forces. You can support your paratroopers with bombers. You should also have two of the planes that view six hexes so you can scan the ground and air for enemy units that try to move south. Upgrade your three Burma troops with trucks so they can move north quickly. Send one of your Japanese bicycle units up the road/path on the far right in order to capture those northern hexes including the Chinese one. You have to split your forces and push hard in order to capture the western victory hexes and the northern Indian hexes but it can be done.

You can capture every hex in the Guadalcanal scenario.
Use your destroyers and aircraft to pound the units next to the coast and fight your way across the river with land units.
Again you have to split your forces to take the western hexes.
Send one paratrooper to take the far western airfield. You can destroy the single unit defending that airfield with your cruisers after you defeat the Japanese ships.
You should send two tanks and two engineers with bomber support to take the eastern hexes.

Thank you for the reply and dang, [was: "am still not used to splitting units"; confused this with Panzer Corps 2] sounds like I spent too many ships hunting the remaining fleet near Rabaul and capturing it.
