So I bought my friend a copy of the Definitive Edition on Steam, and I managed to get the free upgrade to my outward on Gog.com (I grabbed it, and all it's DLC on a sale one time, I think I had a coupon). Anyway, for the last few hours (from the time of this post) we were not able to get together in multiplayer.

Most of what we found on line the fixes, seemed to indicate all you needed to do was make sure the servers were the same. We did that. Several times. We even moved over to a EU server to test it over there, and it still didn't work.

I'm not sure if this is a widespread bug, or an isolated incident, as it stands at the moment my friend and I can't seem to play. I really don't want to drop another chunk of money on a third copy of the game for myself, just to play it through Steam.

I'm having this exact same issue, Friend has played with friends over steam before. So he knows his copy works.
I just upgraded my copy from base to DE and I have tried every fix I can find and also some more I came up with as I've worked with computers for over 10 years and this damn thing stumps me! How can this be so hard to get to work when other people have clearly gotten GOG and STEAM to work together in the past.

IF ANYONE COULD PLEASE BLOW UP THIS POST WOULD BE GREAT CAUSE I IMAGINE THERE ARE MORE THAN JUST US TWO.
Having the same issue :(
Not sure if this is the issue but if they have definitive make sure the steam player is launching definitive. Apparently it was default launching three brothers for my friend.
