I intend to start playing the main game without the DLC... But would I miss much? I mean, does the add-on add important features to the main game mechanics, beside new areas?
Thanks in advance for your answers.
Main game was a much more pleasant experience than the DLC i have to be honest i kinda disliked the Sorobeans dlc other than the cool new items, enchantment etc, the map itself and the quests felt tedious, but id say its worth it on sale just for the extra items and its more Outward.
The game is definitely worth playing without the DLC, but you must love:

- Exploration (with nobody telling you to do it or anybody talking with you for hours)

- Difficult combat (game is hard as hell and requires you to outsmart the AI to get far, like placing traps and so on, if you just like to mash the buttons to kill everything, you will not like this very much)
I vote for skipping the game, unless you have a lot of time to waste on pointless backtracking and wrestling with badly designed systems.
Definitely worth just playing base game.

It's definitively worth it! I love the basic game, today called Oldward or just Outward Classic.
