Hi,
I bought Outward on GOG for some RPG fun with my partner (we loved DOS). I have an old laptop on which the game can run and was thinking that we might not need to squint at my other laptop's split screen if we could use a laptop each. Can I set up Outward on the old laptop with my identical GOG account and have her join my game with it? I have tried but I get an error message saying "cannot join world". I suspect this might be some DRM issue, which would be sad but I get why the devs would do that. Has anyone in this niche situation succeeded where I failed or would the only option be to try and convince my partner to set up a whole new GOG account and buy a fresh copy of the game (that probably won't happen)?
Thank you in advance!

Hi,
There must be different accounts for the online co-op mode.
Does this game have LAN for co-op?
What controls does it use for split screen? Does one person have to use a keyboard while the other uses a controller?
according to a developer way back in 2019

there was never a plan to have LAN support

ninedotstudios probably has a dumbass idea that LAN = pirated copies. So the CO-OP function of this game is NOT only DRM but ALSO an attempt to have you PURCHASE THE GAME 2 TIMES (like I did, nice one you got me) to play IN THE SAME HOUSEHOLD. Sorry, pretty pissed off about this still. I will have to take advantage of the 30 day refund going forward, and immediately test online functionalities. Games like Divinity Original Sin do co-op in the most respectable and easy way, they deserve your money if that's the kind of gaming you want.

I won't be supporting ninedotstudios any longer, as I was forced to purchase 2 copies for no reason, and now they're considering the game finished and moving on even though there are many people that have been asking for LAN functionality for years.

edit: Besides the "Split-Screen" which hey, kudos, that's nice and all, but I've never liked it. LAN functionality is very easy to include in your game. There was a mod for it, but it suspiciously went away without much explanation from the modder. Regardless, the company makes their decisions freely as do I. Shame, I did enjoy the game and was looking forward to more, but as I'm removing Galaxy (because ironically it breaks coop of LAN games) I won't even be able to play Outward anymore.

Keep in mind that GoG's Terms of Use only allow one person to play the games purchased, so even if the developers allowed that, you would still be breaking the Terms of Use.
