I learned you can play local (split-screen) coop for this game, but the second player requires a controller. I don't actually own any controllers since I've been a pure PC player for the last decade or so.

My question: Does it need to be a 'first party' controller, like an official xbox or playstation controller, or does this work just fine with other controllers?

Planning on getting a controller just to coop this (might even use it for other games too), so I figured I'd ask.
