I've always wonder since the 90s if there was a way to stop lava from completely over running your base. The "lava walls" don't seem to do their job very well if that is their purpose unless I've been doing it wrong the whole time. Just curious if anyone has any insight on this.

I tried to block out the lava, too. I built the wall in several layers-and still it slowly burned through them. :)
Apparently, these walls only delay the lava, so that you can have time to remove all buildings and equipment from its path.

No, unfortunately it is impossible to stop the lava flow. Usually the safest approach is to evacuate your base to safe ground.
