So if I use the Direct3D option in the OLCfg.exe file, the highest resolution it goes up to is 1280 x 960. And if I run it in this resolution, the cutscenes look terrible. Is there anyway to make the resolution 1080p in Direct3D mode, or am I SOL?

The game doesn't support that resolution option, but you could try using some D3D wrappers to see if they can upscale it for you.

I've stuck with nGlide for 3DFX mode and I can play it at my monitor's native resolution of 1680x1050 just fine.
Why not use the 3Dfx acceleration? nGlide does support 1080p (4:3).
