I am trying to change the controls so I can jump with space and crouch with ctrl(move with aswd). No problem changing the crouch to ctrl as this can even be done with the launcher, but so far I have not been able to change what action that uses space. I have edited both control_default.ini and Control.ini but when I change it from crouch to jump it goes from toggling crouch to doing nothing. Do anyone have any tips?
Jumping is a contextual primary action, which by default are assigned to left click. You could assign the primary action to Space, problem is that you'd have to use Space for all contextual primary actions like talk, shoot, etc...
You can assign each action to up to three different keys. So, you can easily assign "primary action" to both the left mouse button and the spacebar. Thus, you can jump using space and still shoot and talk by clicking, or however you prefer :)

Good catch ;)
Thanks alot. both of you :)
Go to the Outcast Directory. Open the Controls.ini, and scroll down until you see JUMP=
By default I think this reads something like JUMP=JOY_BUTTON_5
Anyhow, change it to JUMP=KEY_SPACE
I haven't had a chance to test this, but hopefully it should work out! I may be getting the details incorrect, but taking a look inside that ini file should make it all very straightforward. Strangely, there's no 'Jump' option available in the Loader configuration menu, but it IS there in the ini.

Thats what I said I had done, and it's not working. But the solution is in the post above. I didn't mark this thread as a question so I can't set it to solved.
