well, 1080p is supported :)
high resolutions are heavy on your pc, since this game runs (mostly) on your CPU, rather than GPU.
but the developers are continuously increasing performance, by providing better support for nowadays hardware through patches.

incredibly high price-vs-quality ratio :)
Steam version updated to version 1.1.5.18875:
Further gameplay and stability fixes:

- fixed: potential crash in end game sequences
- fixed: potential crash and performance drop in Talanzaar (related to water cart)
- fixed: remove the ability to open the sunkun temple door without egar
- fixed: collision issues with Cutter (can now be overcomed by jumping)
- fixed: some ammo boxes were not reachable in Talanzaar
The developer is Fresh3D - they have a .com website.
Kinda disappointed that the GoG version isn't getting these updates in a timely manner, not even through the Galaxy Alpha client. I might end up buying it on Steam, too.
Three weeks later, still no update. :(

- stats and achievement support
- further optimisation on the brain manager
- improve consistency of the the quest manager
- fix EVD XRay mode which was broken in version 1.1.5

To be completely honest, though I don't actually enjoy this game -- like I've said time and time again --, it saddens me to see Fresh3D treat GOG customers like trash and second-rate ones, just because "Steam is easier to use and upload updates, while being more convenient", or something like that.

Perhaps the "nice" devs at Fresh3D should be reminded that their game's resurgence/revival owes a great deal to GOG; I honestly only learnt about it because it was being sold in here, and I know a lot of other people to whom the same happened. This attitude they're having makes them come across as ungrateful to GOG and this community, only caring for their precious little game on Steam, kind of forgetting how much they owe to GOG.

Their Kickstarter was a huge failure because they don't seem to have the slightest grasp on reality, and, honestly, they seem to be doing it again. Neglecting GOG is a big, big shot in the foot for these guys, yet again. And even though I couldn't care less about updates to this game, as I don't plan on ever trying to play it again, I feel sorry and sad for all the nice people on GOG who absolutely love this title and who deserve the same respect and equal treatment as those who bought the game on Steam -- perhaps even more, since they supported Outcast from the very beginning, and I highly doubt that, if it wasn't for the GOG Outcast fanbase, the game had experienced this whole renewal.

Well, do we know whose fault is the update misery? Fresh3d for not providing patches or gog being overburdened with the cadence of patch releases?

Overall, to some degree I can sympathize with the developers, manual patch bundleing is extra effort, and truth to be told... they need fast releases and feedback as this is some kind of beta test currently. And the required speed can be provided only by an automated patch system. Also another developer, Almost human with Grimrock, did his beta tests on Steam before releasing on gog.

Maybe people should calm down and change the perspective to: "the steam guys have to do the ugly beta test work for us" ;P
