Really love GOG and prefer it over Steam in many ways!
But we're a little behind with patches on some games...

On Steam Outcast Version 1.1.0.18711 is up to date since December 23rd.
Would be nice to get the update soon.
Many thanks GOG team.
I second that.

I started playing Outcast 1.1 today and some bugs are really annoying. I hope to see the newest Patch as fast as possible. This year would be nice.
Latest patch seems to be 1.1.0.18713, that means the GOG version is 6 patches behind! I believe that places the current patch somewhere just south of FUBAR!!

I haven't played 1.1 yet, what kind of bugs are there? Don't really want to play if there is anything game breaking.

For example the aliens who produce new ammunition and healthpacks for you are not on their workbenches. They are positioned somewhere in the world far away from the position they should be. This is in my opinion a gamebreaking bug. Then there are some graphic glitches and some crashes.
I noticed in the opening cutscene some of the building walls disappear so you can see outside!
May I ask when the next patches will arrive? The game has far too many issues even to be sold in its current state in my opinion. I really can't understand why the developers released it. It doesn't strenghten my trust in their work and surely doesn't motivate me to donate for their real Outcast remake. The original game is still the better alternative.

There have already been about seven patches for the game on Steam so the developers are working really hard on the issues, they even released a patch on Christmas and they always send them directly to GOG. It's GOG's fault that they are not uploaded, they don't seem to work between Christmas and New Year and so nobody can provide the patches. This manual system sucks and they don't seem to be able to finish Galaxy anytime soon which should make the patching process more similar to Steam, hopefully.

Which will probably be 2.5 million light years away just like our nearest Galaxy!

Honestly, I don't care about the developers and their busy schedule. It shouldn't have been released in such a state, to release it to the masses, seemingly without proper betatesting, that's the problem. That's not GOG's fault.
As it is a matter of fact that the quality of releases is going a downward spiral and gog is releasing now new games aswell ... I think gog has to think about the issue and maybe provide some kind of upload mechanism to developers to upload their own patches. I don't think gog is really testing any patches more deeply than if the patch installs cleanly and the game is starting. The rest is purely branding with their installer. I just wait when the "no drm" policy goes down like it was with "one world, one price" ... thats the time when gog is obsolete against steam. I don't like steam for a couple of reasons, but I have to admit there was never a time when I was technically better off with gog then with steam. It was always the other way around, mostly because of the patches. From the technical point of view steam worked quite good for me and I had some problems now and then with gog. So when gog dropped the ball with the regional pricing and some other things, they lost enough credit for myself to see them equally to steam from my customer point of view. For devs steam is also delivering the better toolkit and functions (as gog isn't providing anything like this, even crap would be better nothing). Best thing i now have to say about gog is the friendly community and most of the time friendly tone in the forums, but that's the community and userbase ....
However outcast 1.1 is quite bugged and it shouldn't had be released in this state, but this is how things are done nowadays and the devs mostly don't even feel embarrassed about it. As of the combination of developers and gog in this case I would advise to ignore outcast the next weeks or maybe months and come back to it when it is finally fixed to a state which is playable without frustration and gog maybe got the patch also uploaded. So yeah: it sucks.

I'm sure the update will arrive soon... It does kinda make me wish I'd bought it on Steam though rather than GOG which is a shame.
The game has been updated to 1.1.0.18715.

It's the new business model, sell a half finished / pre-alpha / alpha or beta release and only finish it / patch it when it gets too much negative media attention!

GOG should not be selling ANY game that hasn't been fully tested and have satisfied themselves it's ready for a full release! That's why Ubishaft release unfinished games now, get the money first and consider finishing it much later, and how many games like that have they released lately!!
