Hey everyone,

We have just added a patch for Outcast 1.1 that will bring the game version up to 1.1.0.18707, here is a list of the included fixes:

Fixed: The savegame located on the slot3 won't load from the Launcher
Fixed: Some music transitions are incorrects
Improvement: Increasing the priorities of the voxel threads
Fixed: Potential crash when entering in the game
Fixed: Potential crash when triggering XRay mode
Fixed: Potential crash while exiting a cinematic
Fixed: Abnormal delay and potential crash of the gaamsav
Fixed: Mismatch between key M and key L on the default keyboard mapping
Fixed: Missing Spanish subtitles option from the Launcher
Fixed: Hiding Windows Media Player and allowing to skip by pressing any button

The patch can be found on your game shelves now.

Thanks and have a good one!

Does the patch fix the no music problem that some people were having with WinXP?
They've also disabled the ability to select resolutions over 1920x1080, which should help prevent some confusion (currently the game supports up to 1920x1080, selecting a higher resolution just made the game crash on launch).

I'm still getting an instant crash right after the intro video. I'm using Windows 8.1 if that helps.

Even though I still can't play this I'm glad that it'll probably be updated sometime soon. There is still hope for this game! Can't wait to play it again.

I had this problem, it went away when I disabled the VSync option in the Launcher (I have a 144 Mhz monitor).
Maybe try to fiddle with your graphics card settings ?
What about the HD version?
Strange thing, that the patched, recompiled version is still much more unstable than the ages old original version for me. I still can't get into the launcher menu (Vista 64 and Win 7 64), thus being forced to manipulate the ini-file to change settings... And I still don't understand why the intro has to be bound to Windows Media Player, that's kinda stupid I think. Performance seems to be improved however.
Well, I'll await some more patches I think. Wouldn't love it to run into possibly existing gamebreaker bugs. I don't regret having bought it though, everything keeping the Outcast franchise alive is a good thing.

They're going to improve on the intro movie in the future - hopefully that will include a switch in player software (which will probably be needed for the Linux version they want to make somewhere down the line).
I can't install the new patch. For some reason, when I launch the patch exe it just tells me there were some errors and points me to a log.txt that doesn't exist. Also something strange happened after I launched the game fot the first time : the launcher simply disappeared and the only way for me to launch the game now is to launch OC1.1.exe. Will it work if i make a copy of my saves and try and reinstall the game or will my saves won't work anymore ? Thank you !

I've read that some people have had issues with their antivirus / antimalware software picking up the launcher and quarantining or deleting it (false positive) - you might have to set an exception for the launcher exe if this what's happening to you.

If you uninstall the game, select the option to keep all saved games, then reinstall to the same location, your saves should still work (you can make a backup of them first if you want to be really sure).

Fullscreen seems to work now, but sadly performance isn't getting any better. I think I'll wait and see what they have stored for the future. Someone mentioned about the actual HD release with a new engine and a developer said they will have some announcement, hopefully that finally means hardware acceleration.
Version 1.1.0.18711 is already out on Steam, do anyone know when it is added to GOG?

Maybe never, the developer has made it clear they prefer Steam and Gog is lucky to get anything:
