Hey guys, I have the following problem - there's no music on my PC with Win XP 32-bit installed. Sounds play perfectly fine, but I can't turn the music on. I also played the game on my laptop with Vista 32-bit and everything works fine there.

Can you help me out with that? This game has the most amazing soundtrack and I really miss it. :(

Which version are you playing? The original one or the 1.1 version that was released here like two days ago? I also had issues with the music on an XP machine but that was with the old version, I don't think that issue should arise with the new one.
This one's the new version. I used that PC to play the classic version and it worked perfectly fine. Oh well, I'll probably stick to my laptop.
There's no music on my XP machine either (or multicore support for that matter), so I think it's probably an issue with the program.

Same Problem here:
Win XP SP3: sounds but no music
Win7 64bit SP1: sound + music ok...

There is a discussion thread at steam forums about the same issue - seems there is a patch needed...

Greetings from Austria,
Franz
I tried v1.1 with the newest patch and there's still no music. Does anyone know if the Outcast installer is not installing the music properly?
Everything's installed properly, judging by the posts above it seems to be an issue with Win XP rather than anything else.
Thanks to MarkoH01 for figuring out the problem! The Outcast 1.1.exe file in the game's folder must be set to Windows 98 compatibility mode to fix the music issue. To do this in WinXP: right-click the Outcast 1.1.exe file, then choose Properties and then select the Compatibility tab to set the proper mode.
Hi!I`ve only just bought this and also no music on my XP service 3, 32 bit pc.I will do the compatibility trick and cross fingers!Thank-you for your great help in the forums!
May the Yods be silent!Set it to 95,and it`s perfect! How wonderful this looks! Thanks all!
