Well, technically you are supposed to figure out how to do this during the game. Explore some more, or if you don't mind some

Head to Talanzaar, the desert city area. If you search around a little, you should find some merchants who are selling "sacred objects", which are actually various items from your expedition. They should sell some of the upgrades. You will likely need to save up some money before you can afford them.
