So, we all know the old Outcast devs have reacquired the license and reformed as DAOKA. Next step: A Kickstarter to raise money for the long overdue revival of the franchise. Source:

No idea what exactly the plan is. A logical first step might be an HD overhaul of the game to make it more accessable today and really get the old but still brilliant content to shine again. Whatever it may be, I know I'm going to give these guys as much money as I can afford and I hope you will, too! <3

By the way, the extended soundtrack of the game with a few never before heard tracks is now up for sale:

It has quite a few bonus tracks not in the standard soundtrack included in the GOG release.

And yet another bit of Outcast news, Franck Sauer has posted an insight into the cancelled development of Outcast II on his site:

Lots of never before seen prototype content! B)
That's really interesting. :-) An Outcast with properly built-in support for higher resolutions and modern processor speeds would be good; I wonder whether the resources purchased from Atari included source code. I doubt the voxel-style graphics could become properly 'HD' without new models, though.

If the Kickstarter is for an actual sequel, that will be delicious. Though I wonder what the budget would have to be to use as much voice acting and orchestral music as the original.
Saw that material about Outcast II the other day. So much potential...

Looking forward to the Kickstarter campaign, might throw in quite a lot of cash as a fan of the original.
