first off im new to GOG.com i known bout the site since it came out. but having a computer that runs on hamsters running on wheels and a giant monitor would scare even batman from the 60's. i haven't really pc gamed that much outside of my mmo beta testing job. so im picking up classics i love such as fallout and neverwinter of corse i stumbled across this game.

i love adventure games and i heard this has amazing vistas voice acting and the like but i was wondering about the gameplay. such as overall length, weapons and can they be upgraded and such like that but im to worried to look at reviews for fear of spoiling what could potentially be a game that is very unique.

thank you very much for any info :)
This is an action/adventure game in an open-world. The game world is divided in several regions which can be accessed whenever you can. There are optional quests and two main quests for each region.

You can use gadgets to achieve the missions (invisibility, grenades...) or engage combat. There are several weapons which can be upgraded (power, rate of fire...) during the game.
As sebarnolds says, the game is very open-ended, and it involves a lot of talking as well as exploration and combat. The weapon ugrades are really cool and actually change the way the different weapons operate, rather than just being boring stuff like more damage. You can also choose to use a lower level of a weapon if you want to have certain functionality... you can switch which level it's set to whenever you want, provided you've actually gotten the upgrades.

The world is fleshed out really well and the game is a good length. Not too long but certainly not short. Sorry, I'm not very good at giving an actual hour estimate, but it will depend on how interested you are in exploring and doing side-quests.

Personally, I think Outcast is one of the best games I've ever played, and it's a steal here on GOG. Be sure to check out the fan-made high-resolution patch too, it's in a sticky thread.
Thank you both between these to posts and skimming threw reviews {not easy when you want no spoiler its rare to find such a unique story and gameplay combo want it all to be new lol} i am bought it and am now installing :D

Update: yea im so glad i got this lol im addicted to this the second i got out of the first area it just feels huge and spic almost overwhelming. and im seeing lots of materials and little things like keys and such. i think the best part is having to talk to everyone cause noone person knows enough in short it feels like a living breathing world :D thank you again
