When talking to other characters, I have to "left click" for the next part of the dialogue to proceed to the next line and then the next and the next and....

I can't remember if this was how it was originally mind you?
Is there a workaround?

just had a look in my german Manual:
to skip to the next sentence press Actionkey 1 (means Left Mouse usually, or Left [Strg]-Key).
