Backed. I hope this turns out to be good, I especially like the long-term plan to make an Outcast II.
DRM-free confirmed. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/outcast-reboot-hd/outcast-reboot-hd/comments?cursor=6427248#comment-6427247
This is great news. I wish to see more gameplay rather than talking and brainstorming. Also, paying $200 to get a physical art book is a little bit unfair. It is more important for me rather than the statuette of the protagonist or the exclusive t-shirt.

Actually, the worst reward is probably the 'Zorkin pack code', which seems to be just a cheat code for extra Zorkins (money). (Compare the original game.)
Considering they have the rights to a bunch of audio and subtitle tracks from the original release of the game, hopefully they can add those language and subtitles to the GOG.com release:

From their Kickstarter FAQ:

"As we are keeping the original voices, it will still be available in the following audio versions:
. English
. German
. French

While the following subtitles will also be available:
. Spanish
. Italian
. Dutch
. Brasilian"

Also, with the current kickstarter campaign ongoing, would there be any way to see the original game here get the FLAC OST?

you can have the original audio score if you still have the original game !

I own the 2 CD version of the game, and I ripped the WAVE tracks of CD2 and then shrink it to MP3 and there u go, high quality OST !

and since it's taken from the original master CD, it feels different and better than a downloaded version !
I will with no doubt donate, the question I'm asking myself if is how much though..
Same game but with "HD" graphics and probably other stuff to make it up-to-date for current systems.
Yes, oh god yes.
Heh, they actually quote me in their pitch video! It's just the title of my user review here at GOG, but it's still pretty cool.

For anyone who is wary because this is a remake instead of a full sequ A full el, the team actually have a good reason for this. A full sequel would need a higher budget, and they don't think there are enough fans of the original game to raise enough money. But a reboot is cheaper, and then they can get more people to play Outcast who have never played it before, and have a larger audience for the eventual sequel. I think that makes a lot of sense.

Honestly, though, I mostly donated just to thank the team for making such a great game.
